The 2009 Memphis Bound Competition

Rules and Guidelines

1. The Band Competition and the solo/duo Competition is open to any blues/band performer, the majority of whom resides in Ontario.

2. A minimum of 5 acts must compete in either the band division and/or solo/duo in order to guarantee that travel money will be awarded.

3. There is a $ 50.00 entry fee for the band and a $ 20.00 solo/duo entry fee, non-refundable.

4. In the band division, an individual may not compete in more than one act in any capacity.

5. In our local qualifier, a musician may compete in both the band division and the solo/duo division. Should a musician win both competitions, his or her solo act will automatically be disqualified. The disqualified act may read the judge's comments on the score sheets. In Memphis a musician may compete in one division only.

6. All bands & solo/duo acts returning an application form on or before 6:00 PM, August 15th will be allowed to participate. Any application returned after 6:00 PM, August 15th will be placed on a waiting list.

7. If seven or less bands enter The Memphis Bound Competition, one final round will be held on October 25 th.

8. If eight or more bands enter the competition, preliminary rounds will be held September 13 th, and September 20 th, with a final round taking place on October 25 th.

9. The date & starting times for the preliminary rounds or the starting times for one final round will be determined by a random draw held on August 22nd. ( Conflicts must be noted on the form ). If preliminary rounds are held, starting times for the finals will take place by a random draw the night of the last preliminary round.

10. The solo/duo competition is tentatively scheduled for October 25 th.

11. Potential date conflicts must be listed on the application form. The Memphis Bound Committee will attempt to accommodate all listed date conflicts. An act requesting an early time slot will automatically get the first available time slot of the day. After 6:00 PM, August 22nd, any act that is unable to perform will automatically forfeit their performance bond. The first band listed on the waiting list will then be asked to fill the available slot.

12. All acts must submit a member roster before their first performance. An act MUST be comprised of the individuals listed on the roster. Once a band has performed, the Memphis Bound Committee must approve any changes in the roster.

13. The Canal Bank Shuffle Memphis Bound Committee has the final decision on all competition matters.
