| The Seventh Annual Canal Bank Shuffle Blues Festival ran in October and over 5,000 Blues Fans from across Canada and the US visited downtown Thorold to take part in the three-day event. Once again, all proceeds were donated to local charities and non-profit organizations. This year The Thorold Community Activities Group received $10,000, Autism Ontario Niagara Region received $4,000, Niagara Health System received $4,000, The Thorold Historical Society Beaverdams Church restoration project $1,000, Holy Rosary Church $1,000, and $2,000 will go toward sponsoring a Canadian Band to compete in the Memphis Challenge. The Canal Bank Shuffle Committee wants to thank all the sponsors including major contributors, The Standard, The Pen Centre, Four Points Sheraton, Henderson's Pharmacy and Coors Light.
